Pieces of the Night

I already had a life. A future. A man I'd promised forever to.

But the night I found Chase Rhodes—bleeding, broken, and more lost than I was—everything changed.

I wasn't supposed to let him in. Wasn't supposed to write music with him in secret beneath the moon.

What started as a quiet escape became something unstoppable. Our songs caught fire, and now the whole world knows our names.

Music has a way of pulling the broken together, even when the timing is impossible and the fallout inevitable.

But some hearts don't settle. Some songs were never meant to stay quiet.

Because the night I saved him was only the beginning.

And loving me might be the last risk he'll ever take.

Meet the author!

Jennifer Hartmann resides in Northern Illinois with her devoted husband and three hooligans.

When she is not writing angsty love stories, she is likely thinking about writing them.

She enjoys sunsets (because mornings are hard), bike riding, traveling anywhere out of Illinois, binging Buffy the Vampire Slayer reruns, and that time of day when coffee gets replaced by wine.

Jennifer is excellent at making puns and finding inappropriate humor in mundane situations. She loves tacos. She also really, really wants to pet your dog.

What readers are saying

"Jennifer Hartmann has the ability to choke you with the intensity, angst and heartbreak until you pass out and near the end of the book she wakes you up and gives you a warm hug petting your head telling you that it´s gonna be alright. That pretty much sums up the effect these stories have on me."

I knew this book was going to make me cry, but I didn’t expect it help heal some parts of myself as well. Jennifer’s storytelling continues to astound me.
